Strike: Hope as Rector pays additional 3 months PAA
The Rector has paid additional 3 months PAA owed to the staff of Poly Unwana. This is coming after he previously paid 2 months making it a total of 5 months out of the 27 owed as at July, 2019.
Recall that the ASUP, Unwana has overtime embarked on an indefinite strike exercise due to the non payment of 27 month PAA by the management, which made ASUP embark on the indefinite strike exercise.
However, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Unwana still maintain their stand that the management should pay a minimum of 8 months to the ASUP body before other discussion be made as regards the calling off of the strike exercise.
Meanwhile, one of our campusnewsng.com correspondence, Igwe Ndubuisi has reported that the ASUP body and management has set up a committee that has commenced the preparation of the memorandum of understanding(MOU) on how to upset the incurred remaining months owed PAA to the ASUP body.
Furthermore, it has been gathered that until when the above mentioned modalities has been put in place for Rector to sign the MOU on how to clear off the backlogs and pay as at when due before he ASUP, Unwana body can now stand to call of the the ongoing strike exercise.
Nevertheless, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Unwana Chapter via its social media handle has recently assured the public that the ongoing strike exercise will be called off soon.
