PolyUnwana ASUP declares indefinite Strike

According to news reaching us, the Academic staff union of polytechnics (ASUP), Poly Unwana chapter, has declared and has embarked on an indefinite strike.

This is coming after one of her members, Dr John Ibiam moved a motion for the chapter to embark on the industrial action over non-payment of Peculiar Academic Allowance (PAA) for 27 months by the school management!

The Rector Ven Ibe Enwo, however, was there and pleaded with the union. He promised to pay that of one month out of the 27 months owed, but the union members refused.
Voting was done and a 37 as against 35 votes were cast in favour of the strike.

The publicity secretary of the union confirmed the strike by sending a Bulk SMS to members which read:

I’m directed to inform all members that ASUP in congress has declared an indefinite strike. This is a sequel to the inability of mgt to offset the 27months of PAA owed to staff.

Consequently, all academic activities are hereby withdrawn pending when all our agitations are fully met by mgt.
