A 200-level University of Ibadan undergraduate, Ayotomiwa Elesho has won the National Content Development and Monitoring Board NCDMB Essay carting home a 1 Million Naira cash prize and a laptop.
The prize presentation ceremony of this competition was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state with other cash prize presentations also for the other winner in second and third place respectively. Victor Sunday (UNN) came in the second position and Doutimibraladei Frank (Federal University, Otuoke) came third and both received 700,000 and 500,000 respectively. Other participants who were in the top 10 entries also got laptops. Others include Jonah Bonaventure Alidor from Ebonyi state, forth position, Abdullah Yaqub from Oyo state fifth position, Oluwafela Bibire sixth position, Osahuemwenmwen Ofumwengbe-Evba, Abosede Iyiola D, Princess Tari Tarawou and Femi Oyedele.
The competition which is in its 6th edition got over 2000 entries from different participants across Nigerian universities. The topic was “Strategising for Transformation to Clean Energy Landscape: The NCDMB Intervention”
In the price presentation ceremony the Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote represented by the Head, Corporate Communications, Esueme Dan-Kikile, Wabote said NCDMB would continue to introduce programmes to engage Nigerian youths, especially the undergraduates.
He said “The annual national undergraduates’ essay competition is one of NCDMB’s multiple interventions to lift the standard of education in Nigeria. It aims to promote proficiency in writing, awareness of local content, its benefits to the national economy, and to engender citizen engagement from undergraduate level.”
