2 Years is not Too Much To Sacrifice, ASUU President Tells Students
The Academic Staff Union of Universities National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke has said the struggle of the association is not a short-term struggle but a long-term one that is focused on reviving the tertiary institutions for the benefit of the current students and even generations yet unborn.
He made this comment earlier when he enjoined the students not to lose faith in the struggle and be willing to make sacrifices. He said “We beg Nigerian Students to remain patient with us, two years is not too much to sacrifice“
The university students across several universities have clamoured for the strike to be called off and several campaigns have been launched in that regard. Also, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC staged a nationwide solidarity protest about the ASUU strike and has even promised to take more stringent measures to get the strike called off as it has truncated the educational calendar of the Nigerian university system.
Remember, ASUU had embarked on a 1-month warning strike on the 14th of February 2022 which has since then seen several rollovers which have extended the proposed warning strike to 5 months and with no end in sight anytime soon.
