The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has given a recent updates with the ongoing strike and the level of progress made with regards to negotiations with the Federal Government.
Quoting Deborah Tolu-Kolawole, an Education Journalist she tweeted “The negotiation committee chaired by Emeritus Professor, Nimi Briggs has completed meetings with ASUU and is currently waiting for the FG to respond to the reports of meetings held – ASUU President, Osodeke”
It is expected that the Minister of Education Communicates the agreement of the Ninu Brigg’s Committee to the Federal Government to sign the agreement. The Ninu Briggs Committee had earlier concluded negotiations and submitted her conclusions to the Ministry of Education. In his remarks” We have met and ASUU has made their presentation. Some people sent me on an errand and I have to report to them. The committee is not the final authority on this matter. We are not the ones to determine what will be done”
Recall that ASUU had embarked on a 1-month Strike Action on February 14, 2022, to press home her demands and soon it had gotten more extensions with the most recent being a 12 weeks extension on May 10, 2022.
