UI Begins HiFL Journey with a Draw, To Meet Familiar Foes in the competition.
The University of Ibadan Football team, UI Pioneers have Kick-started this year’s Higher Institution Football League competition, HiFL with a draw against LASU Blazers in what was the early kick-off of Group A in the Coastal region.
Early goals from both teams set the game agog but goals soon dried up after LASU Blazers equalised after UI Pioneers had earlier taken the lead.
The Group A of the Coastal region has universities based in the South-Western region of the country. It comprises LASU, UI, LEAD CITY, OOU, LAUTECH, ELIZADE University and Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.
UI will be facing family foes Lead city and LAUTECH in the group stages. The last time UI faced off against both teams was in the football preliminary qualifying stages for NUGA’22 which was held at UNILAG.
The team (UI Pioneers) will continue their quest to qualify for the Knockout stages of the competition as they face FUOYE in another early kick-off tomorrow.
