The power of the internet is never to be underestimated. This has played out in the case of Prosper Oluwafunmibi-Babalola, popularly known as Prosperlingua, a 400 level student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan.
Allowing herself not to be hindered by the ASUU strike, she took to Twitter to share her abilities and engagements during the ASUU strike. She tweeted “Hello Twitter, I am a Hyperpolyglot.
This gives me the ability to easily gain mastery of languages. As it stands, I can speak about 21 languages fluently and bits and pieces of 24 others.
4th-year student of the University of Ibadan (Asuu come outside!). I had to think of innovative ideas during this strike and I finally settled for getting trained in the art of subtitling.
At the moment, I daresay I am a seasoned subtitler of videos ranging from YouTube to Feature-length movies. Please rt as my clients may be on your TL. You will need me on your next video/project/movie to add the required finesse. I can translate and transcribe ANY language to ANY language you desire. I am very open to collaborations and negotiations. Gracias. Danke. Merci. Avro. Xiexie” little did she know that it was the beginning of a new thing for her, a journey she had always dreamt of.
A Twitter user @thetigerine replied to her tweet advising her to make a video of herself speaking the languages and making sentences to enhance her chances of recognition, this was an advice she took which has now become a good step in the right direction.
Just after hours after uploading the video, she dropped an update stating the effect of the video and how much she had benefitted from it in a short time. She twitted “I got jobs!
The power of this app is never to be underrated🥺
Writing is my passion and now, I have tons of pages that I’m busy translating to Spanish, German, French and some others respectively.
I am so pumped and excited to see what the future holds🥺🚀🥳”
The 400 level veterinary medicine student has expressed her optimism and readiness to see how much the future holds on this new path.
Remember ASUU had declared a total shutdown of the university system on February 14th 2022 owing to the inability of the federal government to meet her demands largely based on a better welfare system for her members of staff and the revitalisation of the university system.
