We Are Looking into FG’s Plea – ASUU
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has released a statement to the general public with regards to the extraordinary “Tripartite” meeting between the Federal government and the various striking bodies in the University system.
The President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke, a professor, made it known that the union would consider the appeal of the Federal government made through the religious bodies and will make its decision known to the general public.
He confirmed that NIREC appealed to the striking unions on Thursday. He said such appeals are not new to ASUU.
“It is an appeal and our members would consider it. It is not a request but an appeal and appeals are usually for consideration.”
Mr Osodeke, however, did not say when the union would decide.
“When the decision is taken, everyone would know,” he said.
The current ASUU strike started on February 14, 2022, and has lasted an initial 3 months before another 3 months extension was declared on Monday 9th of May, 2022.
