Total Shutdown of Universities In Nigeria as NASU and SSANU Begins 2-Weeks Strike.
The academic woes of Nigeria and the Nigerian students is far from being over as NASU (Non-Academic Staff Union) and SSANU (Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities) commenced a 2-weeks warning strike.
In a communique made available to the public titled COMMENCEMENT OF TWO WEEKS WARNING STRIKE, the associations stated the cause of the industrial action by quoting a previously forwarded letter to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Hon Chris Ngige. However, the trade unions alleged the minister of what was termed a “nonchalant attitude” hence they declared a 2-week comprehensive strike.

Remember that on 14 March 2022, ASUU declared an 8 weeks strike extension that was already 1 month old thereby halting all academic activities across all federal universities across the nation.
This strike action embarked upon by NASU and SSANU is coming after NAAT also declared her strike action and subsequently halted all academic works on campus.
As at the moment of compiling this report, neither the Minister for Education Adamu Adamu nor the Minister for Employment and Labour, Hon. Chris Ngige hasn’t made any remarks concerning this strike action embarked upon by these labour unions.
