The atmosphere around the university of Lagos is one which cannot be missed, it has NUGA written all over it. With the biannual competition entering into its third day, activities continue to abound on campus with contingents from different universities still trooping in in their number and getting the necessary accreditation and COVID-19 test done in preparation for the games proper and the already arrived ones are intensifying trainings.
Around the sport complex, sportsmen and women could be seen training of the pitch, perfecting thier tactics and also acclamatising to the environment and it’s conditions. Earlier in the day, TeamUNILAG contingents were moved from Lekan Ademola hall to El kanemi hall.
The highlight of the day was the draws and schedule of events that was done earlier today, with teams knowing their foes and opponent, it meant time for relaxation has ended and it time for serious business. Across several sports , Team UI was grouped had a knowledge of who there would be facing at the preliminary stages. Most prominent of the draws was football as UI was drawn against FUDMA,I.A.U.E and OAU in group D.
Also, preparation are in top gear for the opening ceremony of the 26th Edition of the NUGA games, it promises to be an exciting moment and filled with fun and fanfair. It’s the official welcome party and an official flag off of competitive activities for the competition.
With regards to security, the heavy presence of LASTMA officials and NSCDC coupled with the internal security personnel of the university could be seen on ground to maintain the flow of traffic and ensure security of lives and properties.
This year’s NUGA games is poised to produce the best of amateur sports as the preparations are like never before and can’t be compared to any other NUGA competition ever witnessed before.
