From Warning Strike to Indefinite Strike, ASUU Declares
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has officially resolved that there will be no suspension of the ongoing strike until the renegotiated agreement is implemented.
Earlier today, the federal government inaugurated a seven-person committee and gave them three months to conclude the renegotiation with ASUU. Obviously, there will be no break as the current warning strike will diverge into a total and indefinite strike once it expires. Although the organisation is yet to make an official statement concerning this recent conclusion of the National Executive Committee, however its expected that ASUU issues a public statement subsequently to this effect.
Remember ASUU embarked on one month warning strike on 14th of February to press home there demands with the federal government which includes salary and arrears payment and revitalisation of the university system across the country.
