The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has tendered an unreserved apology to the Executive Governor of Oyo State H.E Eng Seyi Makinde.
This is believed to be one of the resolutions that were made at the round table stakeholder meeting that was held today between university staff, Student leaders and delegates from the state government.
The apology was contained in a letter signed by the President of the Students’ Union, Adewole Adeyinka popularly known as Mascot and the General Secretary of the Students’ Union, Bamidele Paul Taiwo. The letter agreed that the tone at which the first letter was written was harsh and stressed that it’s a product of the occurrences that have bedevilled the students regarding insecurity leading to the death of some students, injury to some and even loss of properties.
The union commended the efforts of the governor and the swift response to the letter taken by His Excellency and also expressed confidence in the steps and promises made by the government to forestall such occurrences in the future.
