UI Vice-Chancellor Meets With Student Leaders, Discuss Key Issues Affecting Students

The Vice chancellor, University of Ibadan Professor Kayode Adebowale today met with the Students Leaders (Students Union Executives, UI SU SRC principal officers, Faculty Presidents and their Gen Secretaries, Hall Chairpersons and their Secretaries) that would be in positions of authority in the coming session.

Also in attendance for the meeting are other members of the university management including the Deputy vice chancellors (Academic and innovation), the Registrar, the Dean of Students and Deputy, Director of Health Services, Director of Maintenance, Chief Security Officers and other key stakeholders of the University Management.

The University Management under the leadership of the VC, Prof Kayode Oyebode Adebowale has stressed that this meeting would not be a one time meeting as it would hold periodically to meet with the representatives of students who would come up with issues as regards their faculties and halls of residences.

It should not surprise you that at times, some of the key issues we are facing as students do not get to the key players in the university management. One thing I sensed today.

Key issues ranging from (late electricity to some halls, internet issues, transcript issues, bus stops in strategic places to aid movement of people, issues related to PYTP and IT students, SUB POOL and state of SUB in general) amongst other issues were pointed out, and the school management promised to look into them. We believe an official release that would be detailed would be released soon.

The president of the Union, Adewole Adeyinka Mascot commended the school authorities for the Good electricity supply enjoyed by students during last semester’s examination. He thanked the school for their willingness to listen to students and hoped that it continues
