UI Emerges Champion Of Physics Inter-Varsity Competition
The University of Ibadan (UI) on Tuesday, October 12th 2021, emerged champion of the inter-varsity physics quiz competition conducted by the National Association of Physics Students, UI Chapter (NAPSUI) at the Faculty of Science Lecture Theatre.
According to a communique signed by the president of the Association, Mr Towobola Oluwatunmise Moses said five schools which include; University of Ibadan (UI), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) and Ekiti State University (EKSU) battled for the crown of the next Albert Einstein of Nigerian Campus.
The communique reads fully as follows;
“NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICS STUDENTS, UI Chapter (NAPSUI)
It is with great joy and undiluted happiness we announce the premier university, University of Ibadan as the champions of the inter varsity quiz competition held at the Faculty of Science Lecture Theater on 12th of October, 2021.
The event was organized by the Department of Physics as part of the fulfillment’s of their NAPS WEEK 2021 tagged NOVA PHYSICUS which kicked off with a personality lecture on Monday 11th of October, 2021 and would end with a grand cultural and variety on Friday, 15th of October, 2021.
The University’s team was made of two students from the department of physics (Ogunwemimo Olajide and Adesina Faruq) as they battled with four other schools (Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State University and Federal University of Agriculture; Abeokuta) for the crown of the next Albert Einstein of Nigerian campus with FUNAAB placing the second position and FUOYE walking with the third position.
We express intense appreciation to the institutions who made it out of their schedule to grace our occasion. We also recognized the presence of notable students leaders at the event such as : The UI Students’ Union president- Elect (Adeyinka Mascot), Faculty of Science President (Oluwaferanmi), Presidents of the Department of Mathematics, Zoology, Botany et al.
Being the first edition of such, the event was inarguably educative and successful. We look forward to having bigger and better editions in the coming sessions”.
