With Less Than 25% of Students Accredited, S.U Electoral Committee Releases Schedule of Activities For S.U Elections.
The University of Ibadan Student’s Union Electoral Committee has released a schedule of activities for the election into executive offices of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union. This step to publicly announce the schedule to the general public was made to serve as an opportunity for the committee to inform the general public about the proceedings and lined up activities for the elections.
The committee in its statement released on 5th October 2021 had announced the total number of accredited voters that would be able to participate in the upcoming elections. The special release also included a breakdown of the total number of accredited people through the various hall of residence. As at the time that the accreditation portal closed, 8,931 out of the over 41,000 students was accredited and these are the only student that will be able to vote on election day.
The breakdown number of the accredited students as released by the S.U Electoral Commission includes:

*Ransome Kuti Hall – 612
*Kenneth Mellanby Hall – 609
*Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall – 1124
*Obafemi Awolowo Hall – 1382
*Queen Elizabeth Hall – 1116
*Queen Idia Hall – 1381
*Sultan Bello Hall – 559
*Lord Tedder Hall – 573
*Blank (PG) – 70
However, the S.U elections into executive positions are scheduled to hold on Saturday, 9 October 2021. The process leading to the elections includes press night and presidential debate and manifesto night which is scheduled to hold on the 7th and 8th of October respectively. However, only 40 veteran journalist and 3 representatives of each aspirant will be allowed into the hall.
This S.U election is expected to produce a new set of executives to succeed the Akeju led administration after the end of her tenure in office.
