SIGMA Club Launches Scholarship Scheme, To Award Over 2 Million Naira To UItes.

The SIGMA Club has launched its 2021 Scholarship Scheme with the intentions of giving out over 2 million Naira worth of scholarship in this year’s edition of the annual scholarship program.

This is in line with the mandate of the only men club to rewards excellence and not having any condoling space for mediocrity. This is the 3rd edition of the scholarship scheme as its first and the second edition saw her award  100,000 Naira worth in scholarship for 10 students and  20 students respectively. However, the SIGMA Chief, Ibrahim Olanrewaju, mentioned that this third edition of the scholarship scheme is out to award over 20 students scholarships worth 100,000 each, but the total amount of students to be awarded was not disclosed.

The criteria to qualify for the scholarship opportunity are:

1. Be Student of University of Ibadan
2. Be indigent
3. Be Diligent
4. Have a noble qualities of a SIGMA scholar
5. Be in the 1st or 2nd year of Studies .
6. Have a Second Class Upper CGPA and above

Mode Of Application :
A. Each applicant shall submit an application letter addressed to the SIGMA Chief Scribe, of not more than two (2) pages. The letter must include the Name of the Candidate, course and year of study, why the candidate believes that he/she should be given the award also stating his/her readiness to be a Sigma Scholar.

B. The application letter must be  accompanied by:
I) A photocopy of the candidate’s current school identity card.
ii) A letter from the candidates Head of Department, including current information on the candidates CGPA, for the last academic session.
iii) A copy of the candidate registration form for the academic session.
iv) Two (2) current passport photograph

Also, the SIGMA Chief rolled out the activities of the club in the recent months which includes Benedict Kudayah’s SIGMA Club essay, the inter secondary school quiz competition and even her forthcoming Celebration of the 70th anniversary of the existence of the club.

SIGMA club is a socio-philantropic student organisations in the University of Ibadan, the oldest in the Sub-sahara Africa, it was founded in 1950.
