OFF CAMPUS STATE OF SECURITY
Security of lives and properties should be the priority of any state. The state of security generally in the country today has been so poor.
In efforts to ensure the safety of our students within and outside the University environs in the past few months, we have engaged the Commisioner of Police earlier this year and Oyo State Government to ensure there are heat security measures outside the University environment and we appreciate the response of the Government as regards this, as it was evident with the presence of security operatives patrol within the last few weeks.
Moreso, the Union has been in talk with DPOs of the surrounding environments.
However, there have been consecutive cases of robbery and insecurities in areas like Agbowo, Barika and Water community within 24 hours with our students losing their belonging including phones, laptops and funds available with them to the extent of going away with their ATM cards. Some of these issues have repeated themselves in the early hours of today.
Once again, we want to task the Oyo State Government and the security operatives to avail more strategies to ensure the safety of lives and properties within these communities.
Soon, we shall commence an online campaign as regards the poor state of security within these community and also a walk to end the campaign.
