RAAH Covenant Montessori School hosted her first ever Spelling Bee competition on Friday, 4th June, 2021. The event which lasted for about 3 hours was an amazing scene to behold as it had in attendance pool of pupils across different schools which includes; Christoy Montessori School, Timpep Nursery and Primary School, Base Schools and Trident Schools.
The contest aimed at fostering relationship with other schools and to help pupils understand the pronunciation of certain words. It was an avenue to assist parents and teachers to be committed to the proper upbringing of their children and opportunity for wards to explore their potentials.
In the welcome address delivered by Ojo, Opemide Emmanuella, JSS 2 student said: “We are delighted to have you share and participate in our 1st Inter schools Spelling Bee competition as we believe, this will be a launch pad for your dream to take shape. As for the spellers, you must be resilient because resilience is the key ingredient of success and be aware that your success will inspire others around you,” she further added.
Continuing into the competition were series of thrilling performances, part of which is a choreography session and musical instruments rendition by the students.
While into the contest fully, were important dignitaries like the proprietress, Mrs. Deborah Ojo, Head of School, Mrs. Olaibi Ojekunle, Head of Teacher, Mrs. Patience Oyewole, P.T.A Chairman, Mr. Abraham Ojikpang, Vice Chairman, Mr. Segun Adeshina, the P.R.O, Mr. Lekan Akinsanya and Mr. Joseph Idwimoh, the pronouncer, Mr Michael Omotosho and chief judge Mrs. Onome Odunkoya, a representative from National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), who along the line gave modalities for the contest and also acknowledged those around.
After a fantastic drilling exercise from the two representatives from different schools across primary two, three, four and five classes, Mrs Onome, the chief judge announced the host school, RAAH Covenant Montessori School as the overall winner.
They were presented with a complete HP Computer System, followed by Christoy Montessori School, 2nd position & Timpep Nursery & Primary School, 3rd position, with a smart & Ox standing fan respectively.
However, Balogun Abigail JSS 1 student, congratulated all spellers for their efforts today irrespective of their stance. The event is finished, but, of course, it does not really stop here,” she said.
In conclusion, Mrs Ôjô, the proprietress thanked the parents, teachers, pupils, schools invited and the special guests for their support thus far and seeks for future collaboration as this will be an annual event.
