Two UI Students Emerge Winners at Legal Essay Competition, Pockets 100,000 Naira Cash Prize
The University of Ibadan, the first and best university in Nigeria has yet once again displayed it’s powress and exhibited it supremacy over other universities in Nigeria as two of her students emerge winners at the just concluded maiden edition is an Essay and PowerPoint presentation competition organized by Equity law firm, Lagos State University in honour of Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, FCIArb, honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State tagged: “Data Privacy and the Nigerian State: Towards an effective Data Protection Regime”
Miss Oyin Komolafe, a law student at the University of Ibadan and also the Head, Finance/Legal division at Energy Club UI with publications in several online platforms which includes TheCableNG and others, while her teammate was Mr Victor Fabarebo, also a law student of the University of Ibadan, as they both combined intellect together to achieve this feat.

Speaking on her experience during the competition, as Campus News caught up with the newest champions and asked both participants few questions about the event and their experiences, Ms Oyin Komolafe stated: “I’m a law student at the university of Ibadan. My mate and I are both law students. We represented ourselves at the competition, it was on a team basis, not a university basis,” she added.
The competition was a great experience, to be honest. There were two rounds, the first involved an essay competition while the second and final round involved a PowerPoint presentation”
Upon Speaking with Mr Victor, he also recounted his experience along the course of the competition.

He said: ‘the competition was quite lovely overall. The initial essay round was wonderful as we got (to) look deep into Nigeria’s current data protection regime, then identify it’s flaws and proffer solutions going forward”
We got to explore the nexus between the two subjects and we certainly enjoyed articulating our ideas on the issue,” he added
The event which held on Friday, 28th May, 2021 had other programmes outlined which included a legal symposium themed “NIGERIA’S DIGITAL ECONOMY ASSESSING THE PROSPECT AND THE CHALLENGES OF DATA PROTECTION REGIME”
