After a long session on Monday, 17th of May, 2021, the senate council of the University of Ibadan came to a conclusion on a number of issues.
One of such is the approval of physical resumption for the remainder of the first semester. Remember the University of Ibadan has been operating a virtual system of learning since her resumption on February 2021.
With this recent development, the Halls of residence are expected to be opened from 22nd of May, 2021 with a purported fee of #30,000 which is expected to cover the rest of this semester and the next semester. However, new students would be given priority with regards to hostel allocation and are expected to check their allocated halls of residence by clicking http://streceipt.ui.edu.ng . The rooms are to accommodate 50% of their capacity in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
According to Comm. Bernard the P.R.O of the Students’ Union, students who have issues with course registration or school fees payment should write to the Dean of Students through the office of the Students’ Union President requesting for a reopening of the portal so that they can complete their registrations. The concerned students’ details should be included in their letters.
Also, the Ag. Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. A. Ekanola was recommended for reappointment. He is to continue as the Ag. Vice Chancellor for another 6 months. As a result, his tenure which was slated to end May 31, 2021 has been extended to October 31, 2021. This decision was reached after a new call for nomination was taken for the exalted position and the Ag. Vice-chancellor was re-nomminated. His position was sealed after a vote was conducted and he garnered 151 votes from the senate members while 2 abstained.
