The Students’ Union executives of the Premier University of Ibadan who were supposed to record the shortest service time as executives have all clocked one year in office today.
Had all things been equal, they would have served for just six months after which a new set of executives would be elected and sworn in. This is due to the fact that the Students’ Union which was proscribed by the then Vice-chancellor, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka in 2017 was reinstated with a short period left in the 2018/2019 academic session.
The executives who have now completed one year in service have had most of their service time plagued by the still lingering ASUU strike and the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In all, these executives have been able to record a number of activities to their name after an uncommon year of service.
These activities are compiled in a pdf document – the 55th Students’ Union Special release document provided by the Students’ Union through the office of the Public Relations Officer.
