NIGERIA’S SENATE PASSES BILL ON HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ITS CITIZENS

Dr Ibrahim Oloriegbe the chairman, Senate Committee on Health at Group Individual and Family Social Health (GIFSHIP) in Abuja said the senate had passed a bill of making health insurance for all Nigerians.
The Chairman Oloriegbe, said the e-NHIS (National Health Insurance Scheme) would soon be deployed as its has been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) . He explained how National Assembly had been supporting NHIS.


Also, Oloriegbe talked on how senate had been working alongside the federal ministry of health through the effective implementation of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).

Furthermore, Dr Niyi Oginni the chairman, forum of Ceos State Health Insurance Agencies in his remarks said the states had been restructured in terms of health to meet Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
However he made mention of how the electronic aspect is one of the challenges of the scheme thereby looking forward to the upgrading of operations electronically.


President, Healthcare Providers Association of Nigeria (HCPAN) Dr Adeyeye Arigbabuwo showed his willingness to team up with NHIS to achieve GIFSHIP.


While Dr Leke Osunniyi Chairman of Health and Manager Care Association of Nigeria (HMCAN) is happy about the inauguration of GIFSHIP.
