Think Smart, Work Smart (Part 2).

Mahatma Gandhi said, ” A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes”. Our way of life is a product of our thoughts and actions. What a man would like to become, he thinks deeply about, before pursuing his dream. Our thoughts are a great power in actualizing our dreams which is a reason for us to think well, think deep, think smart. After thinking, we work hard, we work smart.

Just as John Maxwell said ” As you begin changing your thinking, start immediately to change your behaviour. Begin to act the part of the person you would like to become. Take action on your behaviour. Too many people wants to feel, then take action. This never works”.

Smartness is not being cunning or cunningly clever which is what it looks like in our society today. Be clever, don’t be cunning. Smartness is being sharp, sophisticated, witty, knowledgeable and intelligent.

Interestingly, the word ‘SMART‘ is now an acronym and we have both good and bad smart. Generally, we know SMART to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Let’s take a look at good and bad smart.

Bad smart- Stuffy mindset, Memorize their goals, Act based on feeling, Rely on people’s validation, The entitled mentality. These sets of people with bad smart attitude are not specific in decisions because they have a stuffy mindset, they are confused.

They memorise their goals instead of measuring them. Analysing your goals is important and because they don’t, they act based on their feelings because they do not believe everything to be achievable. They rather act based on feelings and rely on people’s validation, not even their mentors ( that’s even if they have one) and all these create the entitled mentality., a disease of the mind.

However, the good smart – Sees opportunities, Makes consistent baby steps, Always learning, Respect for oneself and Takes charge. People with this attitude sees opportunities because of their positive mindset to see what others can not see. They make consistent baby steps, understanding that every little effort will tomorrow become a bigger achievement.

Due to their active learning -unlike those that act based on feelings- they are very knowledgeable because learning leads to knowledge. They respect themselves, believe in themselves and that inculcate in them respect to others. Respect commands respect and above all they take charge which is very crucial.

It’s from passion, portfolio is created. Just as Oscar Wilde said “A man who does not think for himself does not think at all”. So Think smart, Work smart. Be wise.
