News reaching us holds that earlier this morning the Student Union of the University of Ibadan had a meeting with Henkel Ibadan, chaired by the owner of the company.
Representatives from the Ministry of Labour and the Special Advisor to the governor of Oyo State on Youth and Sports were also present at the meeting.
The Student Union, speaking on behalf of students reminded the company how that the issue on ground is about life and no one could negotiate about his life. They demanded proper investigation into the matter of which the ministry of Labour and Oyo State Government are involved in already. The DPO of Oluyole Police Station area also assured they would investigate deeply into the issue.
Knowing fully well that there are legal provisions on matters as this, and as stated by the Student Union, the company had assured they would do outright compensation.
Of course we can’t bring Richard back to life, but then we have to ensure proper investigation of his death and also compensation for the family.
Contrary to an earlier version of this post, news from the Students Union PRO, Benard, confirmed that the Student Union made a condolence visit to the family of the deceased today. A remarkable one from the Student Union of the University of Ibadan.
As of now, we do not have further details of the meeting or proceedings from the meeting, but earlier this evening, the company responded to a tweet by a The Taliban of UI(@awedathefirst) showing sympathy to the family of the deceased and said they are in contact with them and providing necessary support
