THE Ranking – UI ranks higher than Covenant University, UNILAG & LASU on level of impact.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performances tables that assess universities based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across three broad areas: research, outreach and stewardship. This second edition of the Times Higher Education Ranking includes 766 universities from across 85 countries.

In the current impact ranking, the University of Ibadan ranks in the range 201-300, while Convenant University ranks 401-600, University of Lagos 600+ and LASU 600+ also.

On Quality of Education (SDG 4), UI scores a 72.9% ranking 62 worldwide, while Convenant University averages a 53.15%, ranking 201-300 worldwide.
The University of Ibadan also scores high on SDG 17 (Partnership for goals), scoring an average of 75.65, her overall highest. This could be deemed true with the quality of partnerships UI holds with external (as seen in UI influenced internship placemets for students) and international organisations (as in our partnership with some foreign univeristies) in my little knowledge. But could it be true that UI offers a better quality education than Convenant University, what then is quality education, and with what metrics is it measured? I would like to hear your comments.

Moreover, the University of Ibadan was ranked on a range of 49.8-58.3% on Good health and well-being (SDG 3).
University of Lagos scores low with a total percentage range below 50, 9.5-46.6%, with a decrying average of 28.05%. A good news is that inclusive in UNILAG’s rating basis was SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities), a not so popular aspect of focus for nigerian schools; unlike the University of Ibadan that scored highest on Quality education and Partnerships for goals, SDGs 4 and 17.

Thank you. You could drop your brief comments.

  1. The quality of education the university of Ibadan offers cannot be compared to any one in Nigeria. Right from my 100 level days, more than 10 professors taught me. Not to talk about when we were in 200 level and above. It’s only in UI I see lecturers coming to class on first day of resumption. You can ask Vet students. Am a proud veterinarian.
