Abideen Bolaji Olaide, Olubiyi Salaiman Damilare and Badiru Toheeb Adeniyi, all 500 level students of the Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, represented the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, at the HUAWEI ICT TERTIARY COMPETITION 2020.
The first stage of the competition featured 100 students from higher institutions, competing at HUAWEI Headquarters in Lagos.
The competition also featured an invitation to Abuja for training from 5th January to 15th February, 2020, extended to the institutions that were successful at the first stage.
An examination was held after the Abuja training.
From the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, “We are delighted to report that the representatives from the University of Ibadan were successful and have now qualified to proceed to South Africa in March, 2020 for the African Regional Competition.”
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the students, the Dean and all members of the Faculty of Technology for this achievement. The Vice Chancellor also extended success wishes to the winners for the remaining part of the competition.
In some of the Vice Chancellor’s former words on great feats like this, he said, “what starts from here could change the world”. Indeed, several things did start from UI and they are changing the world to significant extents.
